In the day, Carlos Carrasco and Chris Archer are the two best options. Carrasco is coming off eight shutout innings with 10 Ks against against the Rays, and Archer has a strong history this year against the Blue Jays with three quality starts in his three starts. Also, Patrick Corbin has posted two quality starts and 18 strikeouts in his past two games, and the Astros have been sputtering a bit as a team....
Because I enjoy and generally have more success in larger slates, I am treating today as a tournament day. I’ll be going big on GPPs and qualifiers as I try to hit on a big score. You’ll notice some of my picks are more aggressive than usual, and that’s the reason. The Rockies-Reds game appears to be the one to get a piece of. These are two poor pitchers starting in one of the most hitter-friendly parks on the slate....
This is a very uncertain Thursday in daily fantasy baseball with just nine games total and only three on the evening slate. I’ve eliminated the Phillies-Reds game altogether because it starts at 12:35 p.m. ET, three hours before the next game. For those playing the early slate, there should be a good amount of scoring from all three games, but your best bet at pitcher, on paper, is Kenta Maeda. The Weather Channel reported that no deaths or serious injuries had been reported from the tornado that struck the city at about 9 p.m. last night, according to a release from the city of Dallas. However, three people have been taken to local hospitals to receive evaluation and treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Scott Padgett, chief meteorologist of Fort Worth–based news station CBS 11, estimated that winds may have reached or exceeded 111 miles per hour during the storm....
In early January, the zoo discovered that a hole had been cut into a clouded leopard’s habitat, allowing the wild cat to escape onto zoo grounds and prompting a daylong zoo closure as staff tried to locate the animal. She was later found on the grounds and returned to her habitat unharmed. A similar hole had been cut into a habitat for Langur monkeys, but all the Langurs were accounted for....
Hamlin, 24, collapsed on the field during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals after colliding with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. The young safety, who’s in his second year in the NFL, received CPR and was administered oxygen on the field for nearly 10 minutes before being taken away in an ambulance. Personnel transported Hamlin to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the only Level I trauma center in the area....
