It doesn’t help there is only one lefty pitching and several righties with no noticeable platoon disadvantages. Of course, we all know that Clay Buchholz and Jhoulys Chacin (among others) can be blown up by anyone, regardless of whether they’re righties or lefties, which makes tonight’s strategy for FanDuel and DraftKings contests pretty simple: Pick on mediocre pitchers, pay up for good hitters, and maybe try to sneak one or two contrarian plays in there....

The numbers point to the Rangers, Red Sox, and Rays as having some of the best stacking opportunities during the early slate, but you can bet there will be plenty of Blue Jays and Rockies with both teams squaring off at Coors Fields. For the early evening slate, the Blue Jays, Marlins, Astros, and Rangers offer fairly obviously stacking opportunities against lefties, but if you want to go a little more off the beaten path, you can try the Mets, Cardinals or Brewers as centerpieces for your FanDuel or DraftKings lineups. In the late games, the D-backs, Indians, Dodgers and Rockies all have a bunch of players who look good based on the splits....

Meanwhile, there are some bad starters to target when looking for hitters and the popular stacks looks like the Red Sox, Astros, Rangers and Orioles....

Lance McCullers is easily the top choice today, but Jon Lester, Johnny Cueto and Michael Pineda also have strikeout-per-inning upside. Mike Leake and Michael Fulmer have been steady all year, and Gerrit Cole was great before a recent slump. Cole and Fulmer have the best matchups of this bunch, but Cueto might have the most boom-or-bust potential given Milwaukee’s tendency to swing and miss. Unfortunately, Cueto is one of eight afternoon starters (along with Leake and Fulmer, among others)....

Today’s best pitcher picks are pretty clear in both the afternoon slate (Jake Arrieta) and evening slate (Jose Fernandez). Of course, both are expensive, and you might not want to be like everyone else and have those two guys in all of your lineups.
