The report states the Nets and Williams have opened buyout talks on the remaining two years and $43.3 million of his contract. ‎The team attempted to trade Williams, but ESPN reports those efforts have gone nowhere.

Williams nearly signed with Dallas in 2012, but decided to go with Brooklyn instead. After a few years, his value has diminished, but the Mavs are reportedly still interested in him. Dallas could use a point guard after the fiasco with Rajon Rondo.

With mutual interest between Williams and the Mavs, it seems likely something will happen, as long as the Nets can agree on a buyout plan.
