For the 2022 edition of the Great American Race, pole qualifying took place Wednesday night while the twin 150-mile Duel races will be held Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway. Both nights are vitally important to the teams that don’t hold NASCAR Cup Series charters and thus aren’t guaranteed places in the field. This year’s group consists of six non-charter teams competing for four open spots.

Noah Gragson (Beard Motorsports) and Jacques Villeneuve (Team Hezeberg) claimed the first two open positions through their qualifying speeds Wednesday. Greg Biffle (NY Racing Team), Kaz Grala (TMT Racing), Timmy Hill (Motorsports Business Management) and J.J. Yeley (Motorsports Business Management) will race Thursday for the last two open spots, although they could also get into the race based on qualifying speed.

Kyle Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman will be on the front row for Sunday’s race thanks to their speeds in one-lap runs during the final round of qualifying Wednesday. They will lead the field in their respective Duel races.
