Ortiz fouled off a 99 mph fastball from reliever Dellin Betances. He shouted an expletive, then went down on one knee in pain. After Red Sox manager John Farrell and a trainer came out to check on him, they had to help him off the field and into the dugout.

The extent of Ortiz’s injury was not immediately known.
The Yankees won 9-4, but Big Papi’s health is of much greater concern right now to the Red Sox. The designated hitter has 25 home runs and a 1.012 OPS this season.
