The light heavyweight champion had to withdraw from the Dec. 10 event in Toronto because of an unspecified injury. He was scheduled to face Anthony Johnson.

Upon hearing the news, Johnson tweeted a kind response wishing Cormier a quick recovery.
Cormier responded with a tweet of his own, apologizing for having to back out just more than two weeks before the fight.
Nothing is finalized for a replacement for Cormier, but Johnson is still expected to retain the headline card.
