On Friday, Lillard took to his Instagram page for his recurring entry in 4 Bar Friday, a weekly freestyle rap contest he’s helped popularize. At the end, he revealed his first signature shoe.

There’s not a lot we know about the shoe at this time, other than what we can garner from pictures and Lillard’s tweets. The first colorway is the road version, and there will be several others, including a red one.

Perhaps the strangest part of the reveal is that, in an effort to save cost, the shoe will not have Boost. Adidas has pushed their responsive cushioning technology all summer, including in Lillard’s Crazylight Boost shoe, which he will wear this season.

At this juncture all we really have to go on are photos. The silhouette is a bit reminiscent of the Air Jordan 5 or even the Li-Ning Way of Wade 2.0, but from the front the shoe looks a bit more like a trainer. The tongue appears to be sewn at the top to the ankle, another unique quirk to look forward to as we learn more.

Stil, it looks like a good effort for a first shoe, and the new “D” logo, snakeskin effect, camo/splatter sole and mix of materials makes the DLillard 1 an eagerly-anticipated drop as adidas tries to take away some market share from Nike and Jordan.
