We are here every week to present the best (and worst) daily fantasy football values and lineup picks for DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo. Here they are for Week 1.

WEEK 1 DFS LINEUPS: FD cash | FD tournament | DK cash | DK tournament

We kick off the NFL Kickoff Weekend by attacking fantasy’s most generous defense, the New Orleans Saints. We can never truly know if the Saints will once again by the worst team against fantasy quarterbacks – giving up an NFL-high 45 touchdown passes a year ago (an average of over 2.8 per game) – but until we learn otherwise in 2016’s regular season, we are going to consider it a certainty for the sake of fantasy analysis.

“There’s going to be some growing pains with everything you do,” Saints rookie defensive back Vonn Bell, a second-round pick out of Ohio State, told the AP. “It’s just having some confidence out here, believing in yourself, believing in everyone around you to do their job and everything’s going to take care of itself.”

Last year, the Saints defense was taking care of daily fantasy players, especially those that stacked lineups against them.

Best daily fantasy football value picks: Quarterback

Derek Carr, Raiders at Saints (dead last against fantasy QBs in 2015)

DraftKings – $7,300 FanDuel – $7,700 Yahoo – $33

Not only does Carr draw that Saints secondary, but he also does it on the road against Drew Brees and New Orleans’ potent offense. Brees threw 23 of his 32 touchdown passes at home last season.

Las Vegas lines have this game over 50 total points, the highest on the Week 1 board. It’s a close spread, so we should expect a Carr-Brees shootout – not unlike every Saints game we saw a year ago. You could go with the Brees side of this matchup, but why not save the cap space with Carr here, particularly since he has an emerging set of weapons we have yet to see the best of (Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree and TE Clive Walford)?

We have a hunch this is going to be a breakthrough third season for the emerging Carr. You might as well get in before his daily fantasy price corrects closer to the elite.

“I can just see things faster,” Carr told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area in camp. “The game has slowed down a lot and that’s the biggest thing. Once you’re just out there playing football and you’re not swimming mentally, that’s the biggest thing. Now, again, I’m only in my third year, so I have a ways to go. But, the fact that it’s slowed down already helps me out a lot.”

WEEK 1 RANKINGS:Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | Defense | Kicker

Best daily fantasy football sleepers: Quarterback

Dak Prescott, Cowboys vs. Giants (dead last against the pass in 2015)

DraftKings – $5,000 FanDuel – $5,000 Yahoo – $20

From the Saints defense to the even worse Giants defense from a year ago. Granted, the Giants defense has shown improvement this preseason, and Prescott is a mere rookie starting in place of Tony Romo (back), but the Cowboys running game should give Prescott plenty of shots downfield and in the red zone off the play-action pass.

You will not get 300 yards, but Prescott can pass for a couple of scores, if not be a threat to score one via the run, to boot. There is no cheaper quarterback on the board, and a potential wide-open game against Eli Manning and company is in play. It is fairly rare a rookie quarterback’s team boasts a Las Vegas line near 50.

Potential daily fantasy football busts to avoid: Quarterback

Cam Newton, Panthers at Broncos (No. 1 overall defense, No. 1 against the pass in 2015)

DraftKings – $7,700 FanDuel – $8,600 Yahoo – $35

Maybe you didn’t watch the Super Bowl – or perhaps you’re a Panthers or Newton fan and wanted to forget it. The Broncos defense is not one to be messed with in daily fantasy. They get after the quarterback up front and make life miserable for receivers downfield.

There are going to be plenty of weeks to jump on Newton for 280 yards and three-plus touchdowns. This is not one of them.

Best daily fantasy football value picks: Running back

Thomas Rawls, Seahawks vs. Dolphins (dead last against fantasy RBs in 2015)

DraftKings – $6,000 FanDuel – $7,400 Yahoo – $21

This one might look dangerous because of how limited Rawls (ankle) has been in training camp, but head coach Pete Carroll told the Seahawks’ official website Rawls “looks like he’s in full speed” and “ready to go.”

“I’d love for him to carry the ball quite a bit in this game,” Carroll said.

It would be daily fantasy beneficial, too, if not bountiful. The Dolphins gave up an NFL-high 21 combined touchdowns in fantasy backs last season. After premium-priced backs Todd Gurley and Adrian Peterson, the value of Rawls is your next best bet in Week 1, even with worries of Christine Michael getting more touches than originally thought.

Isaiah Crowell, Browns at Eagles (dead last against the run in 2015)

DraftKings – $4,200 FanDuel – $5,700 Yahoo – $15

The Eagles were a mess last season, and the rebuilding program figures to take some time, which is why we are so bold to consider a lowly Browns player among the value picks. Until quarterback Robert Griffin III is up to speed and wide receiver Josh Gordon (suspension) is eligible to return, the offense should be squarely on the modestly priced Crowell.

“He’s very explosive,” Browns running backs coach Kirby Wilson told WKYC TV-3. “He’s got all of the tools. He’s going to be a special player this year.”

The price (and matchup) is right.

WEEK 1 DFS LINEUPS: FD cash | FD tournament | DK cash | DK tournament

Best daily fantasy football sleepers: Running backs

Spencer Ware, Chiefs vs. Chargers (fourth-most fantasy points allowed to RBs in 2015)

DraftKings – $4,400 FanDuel – $5,400 Yahoo – $12

Not only is Ware a bargain with Jamaal Charles (knee) unlikely to play, but the Chargers defense was also awful against fantasy running backs last year. Specifically, Ware posted great numbers against them, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

About the only daily fantasy drawback to Ware’s Week 1 circumstances is the likelihood everyone in your GPPs is going to be lining him up.

WEEK 1 DFS LINEUPS: FD cash | FD tournament | DK cash | DK tournament

Best daily fantasy football value picks: Wide receiver

Amari Cooper, Raiders at Saints (second worst against the pass in 2015)

DraftKings – $7,200 FanDuel – $7,100 Yahoo – $23

There are a lot of wideouts who put up better numbers than Cooper a year ago, but few can match his talent and statistical ceiling. That aforementioned matchup at New Orleans makes him a top-notch stacking play with Carr.

“Once he gets fully adjusted to the NFL, he’s only going to get better,” Raiders Hall of Fame receiver Fred Biletnikoff told CSN Bay Area. “Amari’s going to be a great receiver and, I love that he has (Raiders wide receiver) Michael Crabtree to help him along the way. They play well together.”

Michael Crabtree, Raiders at Saints (gave up NFL-high 27 TDs to WRs in 2015)

DraftKings – $5,500 FanDuel – $6,100 Yahoo – $21

It is all too easy to forget Crabtree is no “sorry receiver.” He just spent the first six seasons without a high-quality quarterback in San Francisco. He quietly enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in his first year with Carr.

“That is always good, that team chemistry, two years back-to-back,” Crabtree told CSN Bay Area. “This program has not really had the same coordinator, same coach, same players for two years, so that is all good for those guys. I am just ready to put it all together and go out here and play.”

Both Cooper and Crabtree can average something close to 6-80-1 numbers weekly this season. Both might be even better in that matchup in New Orleans, too.

DRAFTKINGS PROMO SPECIAL - Who will you draft in this free Week 1 $100,000 fantasy football contest? Draft now!

Best daily fantasy football sleepers: Wide receiver

Markus Wheaton, Steelers at Redskins (fourth worst against fantasy WRs in 2015)

DraftKings – $5,400 FanDuel – $6,100 Yahoo – $14

Everyone will be eyeing Antonio Brown atop the receivers price list against the Redskins pass defense that was sixth worst in the NFL last season and fourth worst against fantasy wideouts. It should be reminded the Redskins added cornerback Josh Norman this winter to slow guys like Brown.

That is where we pivot to Ben Roethlisberger’s second-best receiving target at a modest price. With Martavis Bryant (suspension) out for the season, this is potentially a great year for Wheaton to emerge. We see 6-100-1 numbers here.

WEEK 1 RANKINGS:Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | Defense | Kicker

Best daily fantasy football value picks: Tight end

Jared Cook, Packers at Jaguars (sixth worst against fantasy TEs in 2015)

DraftKings – $2,900 FanDuel – $5,300 Yahoo – $10

The preseason hype did not get baked into Cook’s price, especially the bargain you get him at on DraftKings. The one-time – if not long-time – fantasy breakout candidate has never had a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers to work with. You might even say Rodgers – who has often made his past tight ends productive in fantasy – has never had a talent like Cook to work with over the middle.

“I think he’s going to be a good part of our offense,” Rodgers told ESPN. “He’s a big body who has some athleticism … it’s going to be fun for us to grow that chemistry over the season.”

That Rodgers-Blake Bortles matchup can turn into a shootout that will make Cook a double-digit fantasy scorer, if not the week’s No. 1 tight end, on the cheap.

Clive Walford, Raiders at Saints (dead last against fantasy TEs in 2015)

DraftKings – $3,000 FanDuel – $4,700 Yahoo – $12

Consider this all-in on the Raiders in NFL Week 1. Or all-in against the Saints, if you want to view it that way.

Walford showed promise as a rookie last season and should continue to grow along with all of Carr’s aforementioned weaponry.

Jason Witten, Cowboys vs. Giants (second worst against fantasy TEs)

DraftKings – $4,100 FanDuel – $5,500 Yahoo – $17

Yes, we know Witten is old, without his long-time buddy Tony Romo, and dealing with a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut. His price is not all that tempting either.

But Witten has enjoyed his best games against the Giants, who have a young and raw set of safeties and the reigning worst defense and pass defense in the NFL from a year ago. Witten has 13 career TDs against the Giants, and no other team is close.
