The easy DFS picks for today are at the top with aces like Max Scherzer and Jake Arrieta, but there are several other interesting picks further down the rankings that could outpitch their projected rankings. Justin Verlander has major boom-or-bust potential against a Houston team that’s known for swinging-and-missing, and Marco Estrada could be a sneaky play with low ownership, as many DFS players won’t want to use him going up against David Price.

Splurge: Max Scherzer, Nationals at Phillies. This one is too easy…so, why not just take it? The Phillies were aced out by Joe Ross yesterday, and Scherzer is obviously better than Ross. Even at $11,500, Scherzer is worth the price.

Sell: David Price, Red Sox vs. Blue Jays. The Blue Jays simply hit too well against lefthanded pitchers to pay $10,400 for Price. Of course, most DFS players will  be thinking that way, so there’s a clear opportunity to get an ace who will have a fairly low ownership percentage, but it’s a pretty big risk.

Save: Andrew Cashner, Padres vs. D-backs. Make no mistake, Cashner can be a nightmare to use, but he’s always been much better at Petco Park (2.76 career ERA there). At just $6,800, he’s ridiculously cheap and gives you the ability to put together a dynamite offense.
