But even with all the southpaws on the mound today, the top of our pitcher rankings is dominated by righties. There’s really no reason other than they’re better pitchers – sometimes the analysis is just that easy. When it comes to actual team splits vs. lefties, Gio Gonzalez (vs. ARI), Julio Urias (vs. SF), Drew Pomeranz (vs. BAL), and Blake Snell ( vs. MIA) are viable options facing teams with below-average wRC+’s vs. southpaws (according to FanGraphs). Hector Santiago (vs. OAK), Robbie Ray (at WAS), and CC Sabathia (vs. TOR) have matchups against teams that are above average vs. lefthanders.

If you’re looking for a contrarian pick in GPPs, Jerad Eickhoff against the Cubs is a decent option. Not only is Eickhoff a solid, if unspectacular, pitcher, but the Cubs rank just 20th in wRC+ against righties.

For the first time on a Wednesday this season, there is no day baseball. We have a full 15-game slate beginning at 7:05 pm ET. We’ve scoured all the data to come up with our top plays for a very busy slate.

It’s still raining in the Midwest, and the hourly forecast for St. Louis has at least an 85-percent chance of rain until Friday afternoon, so there’s a pretty good chance that the MIL-STL game doesn’t happen. This same front is going to have an impact across the state and puts the CWS-KC game in jeopardy, as well. There’s some chance of rain in Minneapolis, but it doesn’t appear to be a major threat to the OAK-MIN game. On the plus side of things, the wind should be blowing out again in the Bronx, so go ahead and give a boost to the Yankees and Blue Jays hitters you’ve been eyeing. Stay tuned to the Weather Center for constant updates, and we’ll do our best to have pivots prepared in case of cancelations. – Nick Berns
