Since coming off the DL, Bumgarner hasn’t been too consistent in his four starts, but you should be able to expect a good outing this time. Every run Bumgarner has given up is via the long ball, and the Pirates have the fourth fewest home runs against lefties this year. Add in pitching-friendly AT&T Park, and Bumgarner should have a really good day.

Cleveland’s Mike Clevinger has been dominant at times this year and is currently 15-inning scoreless streak. Tampa’s Jacob Faria and Oakland’s Sonny Gray both have been hot and have decent matchups on paper. Cole Hamels should bounce back from a poor start at Baltimore against a Marlins team that has only scored more than three runs twice in the past eight games.

In the lower-priced tier, Jhoulys Chacin shouldn’t be overlooked. He’s been in a real groove, posting a 2.92 ERA since June. At home, he sports a 1.94 ERA. Also, Mike Foltynewicz is 4-0 in his past five games, just defeated the red-hot Dodgers, and faces an Arizona team who is 3-7 in its past 10 games.

Not the greatest 14-game slate tonight as we approach the final week heading into the trade deadline.  The pricing for pitching is all over the place tonight, and there are cases to be made for rostering several different pitchers with no real clear-cut favorites. With some value pitching options today, we can pay up more for hitters.  There are plenty of great options tonight, but their prices make for some tough decisions.Good luck! – Ben Scherr
