Our advice for the early games is to load up on Mariners and Rays, and getting Rangers’ lefties against A’s rookie Daniel Mengden is a solid move, too. For the evening FanDuel and DraftKings contests, the Mets and Twins offer some under-the-radar, boom-or-bust value picks, and the Tigers have a bunch of high-upside stacking options against a mediocre lefty (Danny Duffy).

Aside from the options listed below, you can also attack Kyle Gibson (vs. Yankees), Junior Guerra (at Dodgers) and Tyler Wilson (at Red Sox) in the early evening and late-night contests.

AFTERNOON GAMES

Red = 1B; Orange = 2B; Yellow = 3B; Green = SS; Blue = OF; Purple = C

In 185.1 innings, Matt Wisler has allowed a .280/.365/.514 line to lefthanded batters. Even though Wisler has been better this year, we still like 1B Joey Votto and OF Jay Bruce.

Facing a lefty for the second straight day (Blake Snell), Mariners OF Nelson Cruz, OF Franklin Gutierrez, catcher Chris Iannetta, and 1B Dae-Ho Lee all have more value than usual.

Rays OF Steve Pearce (1.224 OPS vs. LHPs this year), 2B Logan Forsythe (.949) and 3B Evan Longoria (.884) should all enjoy hitting against James Paxton today.

The sample sizes are small, but Colby Lewis has had success against most A’s hitters, especially catcher Stephen Vogt (1-for-16), SS Marcus Semien (0-for-10), and 1B Billy Butler (3-for-20).

EARLY EVENING GAMES

Red = 1B; Orange = 2B; Yellow = 3B; Green = SS; Blue = OF; Purple = C

Almost all of Philadelphia’s hitters have struggled against lefties this year, but in his limited plate appearances against southpaws so far this season, 1B Tommy Joseph is 8-for-22 with a pair of homers. He might be your best bet against J.A. Happ today.

In 159.1 career innings, Aaron Nola has limited righthanded batters to a .219/.260/.341 line. The Blue Jays are loaded with power-hitting righties, so make sure you don’t overpay for any of them.

Orioles SS Manny Machado is killing lefties this year (1.024 OPS), and OF Mark Trumbo is hitting the ball hard (.579 SLG) but not all that often (.193 average) against southpaws. Still, we like them both against Eduardo Rodriguez, and OF Joey Rickard (.835 OPS) has some sleeper appeal, too.

Since the start of 2014, Juan Nicasio has allowed a .321/.403/.520 line to lefthanded hitters. Guys like OF Curtis Granderson, OF Alejandro De Aza, and maybe even 1B James Loney and 2B Kelly Johnson are more interesting options today.

Twins 2B Brian Dozier, OF Robbie Grossman, and SS Eduardo Nunez all have OPS’s over 1.000 against lefties this year. Dozier is the most reliable of the three, but you can take a chance with any of them (and 3B Trevor Plouffe) against CC Sabathia.

Catcher Salvador Perez (21-for-44, nine XBHs) and 1B Kendrys Morales (12-for-34, six XBHs) have great career numbers against Justin Verlander. The same can’t be said for SS Alcides Escobar (12-for-66).

Catcher Victor Martinez (.833 OPS), OF J.D. Martinez (.933), and 2B Ian Kinsler (1.034) are having great years against lefties, which isn’t unusual for them, and even though 1B Miguel Cabrera (.978 career OPS vs. LHPs), catcher James McCann (.857), and 3B Nick Castellanos (.784) haven’t been quite as sharp this year, we still like them against Danny Duffy today.

LATE EVENING GAMES

Red = 1B; Orange = 2B; Yellow = 3B; Green = SS; Blue = OF; Purple = C

Brewers OF Ryan Braun has always been a lefty-killer (1.033 career OPS), and SS Jonathan Villar has been killing them with Braun this season (.959). Both are good options against Scott Kazmir.

In 102.2 career innings, Erik Johnson has allowed a .308/.409/.575 line to lefties. It’s worth it to pay up for OF Bryce Harper and 2B Daniel Murphy today.
