Saves Sleepers
Andrew Miller needed 26 pitches to record six outs on Saturday. While that isn’t necessarily a prohibitive amount, the fact he went two innings might render him unavailable on Sunday. Dellin Betances would get the call for the Yankees in a save situation.
Sean Doolittle struggled in a non-save situation on Saturday, allowing three hits and two runs. He’ll likely get the next save opportunity for the A’s, but it’s unclear just how much leash he has. Drew Pomeranz isn’t a bad add on the chance Doolittle is shut down prematurely.
Weather Watch
The weather shouldn’t be quite as bad as the last few days, but there could still be a few games threatened by weather. There’s at least a 30-percent chance of rain for the following games: Brewers-Pirates in Pittsburgh, Blue Jays-Yankees in N.Y., Cubs-Phillies in Philadelphia, and Game 1 of the Tigers-Indians in Cleveland.
