Thursday’s light MLB schedule starts early with a pair of games at 3:40 p.m. ET: Rangers-Mariners and Rockies-Padres. There are only six games in the evening, so you may have to get creative to fill out your regular and daily fantasy baseball lineups. Good luck in all your daily fantasy baseball contests!

Saves Sleepers

It can’t be good for Jean Machi’s “closer” status that he pitched in the sixth and seventh innings of Boston’s 10-4 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Perhaps the Red Sox were just trying to let Machi get in some work in a low-leverage situation, but between this usage and his recent struggles, it seems unlikely he’ll get the call in Boston’s next save chance. Junichi Tazawa and Robbie Ross Jr.  are the most likely candidates to take over, but Boston could also go to a full-fledged closer-by-committee.

Weather Watch

Get ready to make some lineup changes because of weather. There’s a 100-percent chance of rain in N.Y. for Blue Jays-Yankees, and an 87-percent chance in Philadelphia for Cubs-Phillies. There are also roughly 65-percent chances of rain in Pittsburgh for Brewers-Pirates and in Atlanta for Mets-Braves. With so few games on Thursday’s schedule already, fantasy owners can’t afford to lose more to rain.
