But Hale’s most famous moment as a baseball player happened during a stint in the minor leagues when, as a member of the Triple-A Portland Beavers, he hit a deep fly ball to right field. Vancouver Canadians outfielder Rodney McCray went to make the catch, and ran right through the outfield wall.
