The Cubs pitcher got himself into scoring position Wednesday night by stealing second base. It was the first stolen base of the 38-year-old right-hander’s career. The Cubs were leading 5-1 in the fourth inning and had two outs, so of course Reds pitcher Homer Bailey wasn’t paying attention when Lackey took off.

Soon after, Lackey’s athleticism ran out. He was caught trying to sneak back to the bag after wandering too far off following a walk.
