Though silverware isn’t up for grabs, pride and fair bit of extra prize money is on the line in this game.

Both of these teams reached the semifinals with superb defensive records but were unable to contain Argentina and France respectively.

Croatia finished second at the 2018 World Cup and will be eager to end the 2022 tournament with a win this time around.

Croatia vs Morocco lineups

Marcelo Brozovic was replaced after just 50 minutes in Croatia’s semifinal against Argentina, with coach Zlatko Dalic saying he was hauled off due to a muscular complaint but should be fit to play in the third place match.

Aside from that, Croatia appear to be relatively injury free and have no suspensions.

Croatia projected lineup (4-3-3, right to left): 1. Livakovic (GK) — 22. Juranovic, 6. Lovren, 20. Gvardiol, 19. Sosa — 10. Modric, 11. Brozovic, 8. Kovacic — 15. Pasalic, 9. Kramaric, 4. Perisic

Morocco opted for a back five against France, with midfielder Selim Amallah dropping to the bench for the first time.

Centre-back Romain Saiss did start despite a lingering injury, but only lasted 21 minutes before being replaced and is unlikely to feature against Croatia. Nayef Aguard did not even make it that far, after being withdrawn from the starting lineup to be replaced by Achraf Dari at the last minute.

Noussair Mazraoui was also forced off against France with injury and is in doubt for this match.

Morocco projected lineup (4-3-3, right to left): 1. Bounou (GK) — 2. Hakimi, 20. Dari, 18. El Yamiq, 25. Attiyat Allah — 8. Ounahi, 4. Amrabat, 15. Amallah — 7. Ziyech, 19. En-Nesyri, 17. Boufal

Croatia vs Morocco odds, prediction

Croatia will come into this match given an edge by the bookmakers, but neither team appears to have a clear advantage on paper.

Despite both teams’ defensive strengths and the 0-0 draw in the group stages, a few goals are expected as players possibly let down their guard slightly with less on the line.

With more tournament experience, it’s hard to look past Croatia not ending another impressive World Cup with a win.
