Since NBC hired Drew Brees in March 2021, there was speculation that NBC could be preparing Brees to eventually take over for Collinsworth as the color analyst. With this contract news, though, this transition could be delayed a few more years.
Currently, former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has the largest sportscasting contract in history with CBS. Romo’s contract is a 10-year $180 million deal, and it’s set a very high standard for sportscasters moving forward.

Super Bowl LVI in 2022 will mark Collinsworth’s fifth Super Bowl broadcast. The next Super Bowl that NBC will air will be in 2025, which would be the last year in his new contract.
