Ohio State fired former head coach Thad Matta on Monday in an oddly-timed decision that leaves the Buckeyes without a coach just weeks before the July recruiting period.
McDermott, who has a career 445-276 coaching record, was considered a bit of a suprise candidate for the vacancy. Sporting News put together a list of seven top candidates to replace Matta, many of whom have strong ties to the Midwest through their coaching and recruiting backgrounds.
