We gear up for a shorter nine-game evening slate tonight that has a roster lock of 7:05 pm ET. BUY ‘EM - Ian Kinsler is 8-for-18 with four extra-base hits in his career against C.J. Wilson. - The hot-hitting Aramis Ramirez has been hot his whole career against Wandy Rodriguez going 21-for-57 (.368) with six XBH against the Pirates' lefty. Teammate Ryan Braun has also killed Rodriguez to the tune of 18-for-47 (.383) with 12 extra-base hits. - It should be a good day for some of San Francisco's top hitters....

Fortunately, several pitchers have noticeable lefty/righty splits, including a few interesting reverse-platoon splits, that can help you spot values and stay-aways. So, why not do something different? Today I offer up some players at the pitching position who I think are more suited for tournaments. These guys may be a little riskier than the people I normally write up, but hopefully we can get some low ownership on a 14-game slate. Cheap, contrarian pitching will allow you to pay for whatever bats you like, and every night the top of the leader boards seems to indicate that nailing the right low-owned pitcher is crucial to winning roster builds....

James Paxton has pitched at an ace-level at times this year, but a tough matchup against Boston makes him better suited for GPPs. Conversely, Gerrit Cole has had his struggles this season, but a favorable matchup against the Giants has him on the radar in both cash and GPPs. If you’re dipping down into the bargain bin, Hyun-jin Ryu (foot), fresh off the DL, has to be a consideration given his matchup....

There are aces aplenty on the mound tonight, highlighted by the second Madison Bumgarner-Clayton Kershaw matchup of the season. Because those two aces are facing each other (and expensive), many DFS players might opt for Chris Sale instead. Either way, there’s a stud pitcher for everyone, so if you’re looking to differentiate, you could dip down into the middle of the rankings and try to find a value pick among the Rich Hill’s and Wei-Yin Chen’s of the world (your funeral)....

There are only 10 MLB games tonight, but that is still plenty to make quality cash and GPP lineups. However, based on the matchups it is going to be harder than we would like. For starters, pitching is atrocious tonight. My top-rated starter is Dallas Keuchel, who wouldn’t have been in the top four of starters any single day since April 21st. Keuchel’s home spilts are ultimately what puts him over the likes of Johnny Cueto tonight despite Cueto having throw the ball better so far this year....
