Madison Bumgarner and Cole Hamels have great matchups based on the numbers, but Jimmy Nelson could have a better day for a lower price against the Pirates. Michael Fulmer should also have a good day against the Royals, who have struggled to score runs since the All-Star break. Lance Lynn will face the Mets, a team he pitched seven scoreless innings against earlier this month. Lots of expensive aces for and good values for your cash-game and tourney lineups in tonight’s 13-game slate, so there is going to be a wide variety of lineup combos across the board. For that reason, I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to be “different” on the mound; just make sure you get a solid starter with a good chance to win. You can find plenty of ways to be different in your offense with several low-quality pitchers on the mound who will make scrubs look like All-Stars tonight....

Depending on your definition of “ace”, there aren’t many (any?) no-doubt, sure-fire aces pitching today. Often on days like this, you’ll see those in DFS contests try to find some sleepers by playing matchups. Why pay up for someone who doesn’t feel like a sure thing when you can just grab whomever is facing San Diego, Philadelphia, Atlanta or Minnesota? You can also take a chance with a high-strikeout guy and hope he has everything working....

A full evening slate starting with Tigers-Indians at 6:10 p.m. ET means plenty of pitcher options for Tuesday night.
