Outside the Bush administration, there is bipartisan agreement that Guantánamo should be shut down and the military commissions scrapped. A compelling case could have been made for Nuremburg-style trials for some of the prisoners there—including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. But the CIA admits Mohammed was waterboarded, rendering his confession unreliable and any conviction a sham. And even if we do convict this handful of terrorists at Guantánamo, there still remain almost 300 detainees at the base, held there for years without charges....

It’s entirely possible these pitchers have good outings. After all, there isn’t much of a scouting report for the batters to go on. But it’s also possible that Snell and Vargas, no matter how accomplished they were in the minors, very quickly find out how different it is pitching to major league batters. Pretty much every key player from the Yankees (vs. Snell), Cardinals (vs. Vargas), and Royals (vs. Wilson) should be given extra consideration in FanDuel and DraftKings contests today....
Our advice for the early games is to load up on Mariners and Rays, and getting Rangers’ lefties against A’s rookie Daniel Mengden is a solid move, too. For the evening FanDuel and DraftKings contests, the Mets and Twins offer some under-the-radar, boom-or-bust value picks, and the Tigers have a bunch of high-upside stacking options against a mediocre lefty (Danny Duffy). We should note that almost all of our numbers-drive suggestions are from the early-evening slate. With four games on the late slate – all of which feature righthanded starters – the best plays are going to be lefties and, quite simply, guys who are generally good hitters. When it comes to finding value bats, there are a couple interesting stacks, especially if you take advantage of two pitchers with noticeable reverse-platoon numbers (see below). There are also some reverse-platoon fades you should account for. It’s almost not even worth trying to be contrarian with these players, as the average DFS player might not even know they’re being contrarian when making their lineup selections. We started our FanDuel tournament lineup by deciding to go with a Rangers’ primary stack and a Pirates (yes, Pirates) mini-stack. The latter just sort of happened; the former was calculated. We blame no one for stacking Rockies and Nationals or even D-backs and Padres in Arizona (the latter being quite the contrarian play against Zack Greinke), but we like lefthanded Rangers at home against Phil Hughes. Luis Severino will likely be highly owned in cash games, as well, and Justin Verlander, despite his struggles this year, should get a boost in ownership because of his matchup against the Royals. Sonny Gray, fresh off an 11-K game, and Ivan Nova, who tends to dominate in Pittsburgh, both look like solid choices, though you could be hurting for strikeouts with Nova. When it comes to GPPs, boom-or-bust guys like Vince Velasquez, Trevor Bauer, and rookie Dinelson Lamet are high-K options....
Wednesday looks like the day of value pitching. There are at least five cheap, not-quite-aces I’d be willing to roll with today in tournaments (more on those picks below) along with five bona fide aces if you’d rather pay up in cash games.
