Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche was born in Nubri, a small village close to the Nepal-Tibet border, in 1975, making him 41 years old. But according to a study published in the journal Neurocase, his apparent brain age is almost a decade younger than his actual age. The study’s authors suggest decades of regular meditation could explain the discrepancy. Researchers from University of Wisconsin-Madison and Harvard Medical School scanned Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche’s brain four times over 14 years—in 2002 when he was 27 years old; 2005 when he was 30; 2007 when he was 32; and 2016 when he was 41....
The rookie contingent thus far has proven more than capable of driving the Cowboys’ offense devoid its franchise quarterback, and that was on display Sunday night as Dallas totaled 447 yards from scrimmage in an easy 31-17 win over the Chicago Bears at AT&T Stadium. The 26-year-old sprained his right shoulder in the Cowboys’ 44-21 over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15 and underwent an MRI scan on Tuesday to assess the extent of the injury, after the pain had got worse. Prescott was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and is yet to attempt to throw for the first time this week, but he was in doubt over his involvement on Sunday....
Prescott played under the exclusive tag last season and earned $31.4 million guaranteed. This year, should the Cowboys tag him again, that number would jump up by 20 percent to $37.7 million. Immediately after the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones explained to reporters that the injury was a fracture that required surgery and several weeks of recovery, marking a potentially major setback for the franchise. Voters in McKinney, Texas, on Saturday approved a $220 million bond package to finance the 12,000-seat facility that will also include an events center, according to the Dallas Morning News. Scientists from Florida International University’s Institute of Environment said they found perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) and phthalate esters (PAEs) in the 156 oysters they sampled from those areas. PAEs are typically used in consumer products such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food packing and personal care products, according to the university’s FIU News. People can be exposed to the substance through ingestion, inhalation and contact with dirt or soil. PFAS include thousands of man-made chemicals that are mainly used in industrial and consumer products....
A Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman confirmed Monday that the team had removed the “interim” title given to Knost as Patrick’s crew chief last October. Patrick’s former crew chief, Tony Gibson, already had been appointed crew chief for Busch for 2015 and they enjoyed three solid races together at the end of the 2014 season. Patrick and Knost didn’t immediately click as they posted finishes of 36th, 22nd and 18th in those events....
